About me
I’m Terry Jane Robertson, fine artist and textile print designer living to explore and interpret classic, modern, traditional, and vintage styles. I aim to deliver useful, eclectic, and distinct patterns with a relaxed elegance and hand-drawn textural feel. I focus mainly on all things that make a home an inviting environment and experience.
I am a California native and have spent most of my life in Southern California where I currently live in the Los Angeles area. I grew up taking inspiration from the beaches, vintage fabric found at thrift stores in Venice Beach (where I worked for a sculptor) and Hollywood, Disneyland, 1920’s Spanish architecture, Japanese textiles, the mystique of Laurel Canyon, galleries and museums, and always the beautiful sunlight and atmosphere of water, landscape, and possibility. Trips to Turkey, Italy, France, Hawaii, and New England also fed my love for design.
My BFA is from CSU Long Beach, where I studied painting, drawing, and printmaking. After graduation, I took textile design classes at Otis Art Institute and ended up working as a graphic designer/art director in the music and film industry for many years. In 2010, I started to make gouache paintings specifically for table linens. In the past few years I have been honing and defining my surface pattern design business.
I welcome licensing, collaboration and commission opportunities. Inquiries about my products, process, and availability are always welcome. Can’t wait to see what you are working on.
